Previous Quesions I've Recieved:
Cell Phone? - I have a pre-paid cell phone which was bought by my boss, and filled by me. It's Tchibo which is easily bought from any Tchibo store (they are everywhere, or click here to check out their online shop). You can buy one for 20 euros and it comes pre-filled with 20 Euros. It's 15cents per minute and 15cents for a text.
Banking? - It's easy enough for your host family to go with you to sign up for a bank account. There are many banks that are nationwide. My boss took me to Volksbank, and I've never had issue with it. You get an EC card- works like debit and is more widely accepted than Visa. (In small towns mostly cash is the only accepted thing, second would be EC and if you are lucky- they will take Visa.)
Any Other Quesions? Just let me know. :) Just leave quesions as comments and I will post them here.

Welcome One and All
I'm going to have to figure out a way to organize all of this to the best ablity. But basically I want to answer questions about Germany and being an au pair here on this page. I've found that people looking at being an au pair have found me, and I want to help as much as I can since I did this whole thing blind. For me it helps that I happened upon a great family. I think that is key, but really there's a lot of things I didn't know. Write me your questions and I will answer them here and hopefully help people. :)
